Salty, a premature harbour seal pup
Salty, a premature common (harbour) seal pup, was rescued on the 4th of May 2003 from a beach on the Horsey Side of the Winterton Haul-out. Here at the Winterton Seal Field Hospital, Salty needed intensive treatment, including being fed with a special milk mixture and vitamins every 4 hours until he was slowly weaned onto fish.

Salty was released back into the wild on 18th of December 2003 after his short stay at the Seal Rehabilitation and Research Centre (SRRC), at Pieterburen in Holland. On the day of Salty's release, he was given a send off by the Pieterburen Directors.
