Winterton Seal
Hospital (Save Our Seals) Rio was rescued on 23rd July 2009 |
![]() | Rio, a harbour/common seal pup, was rescued from the edge of the sea at Waxham near the harbour seal colony after being hit by a jet ski. Only just alive, Rio was only 24 hours old when we rescued the badly injured pup on 23rd July 2009. Rio weighed 14 lbs and had a temperature only 34.3°. People on the beach were shocked to watch as the jet ski rider seemed to go straight for the mother and pup. Upon arrival at the seal hospital, the pup was assessed and found to have swollen and closed left eye plus 13 cuts in head, plus more along his back, Rio was bleeding badly from these wounds. |
