Winterton Seal Hospital (Save Our Seals)

News Update - 14th December 2008

Nick, a male grey seal pup, was rescued on 10th December 2008 after being monitored for a couple of days in the hope that his mother would return. We first had a report that he may be alone on 7th December 2008, so we monitored him for 48 hours, but his mother did not return and we had to assume that she had passed away on the beach at Winterton haul-out. Nick was approximately 3 days old and weighed 35 lbs, after a full clinical assessment, he was found to have an infected umbilical cord and had trouble with breathing. Nick is currently being fed special milk (which has the texture of a milkshake and is the closest we can get to its mother's milk) by tube three a day at our hospital.

If you would like to sponsor Nick or make a donation towards his care and rehabilitation, please see below for more details.
