12th December 2007 - Common Seals Rescue

Harry and the volunteers had a busy time getting everything ready for the release. Poor Cindy and Darius were looking a bit worried as they knew something was going on. Harry has now got the knack of encouraging a stubborn seal pup into the cage off to a fine art, but that did not stop Cindy from putting up a lot of resistance. She took out her reluctance on the end of a poor broom, but eventually she went in. Darius, after watching all the excitement, quickly gave up and walked in after a token resistance. With the rest of the seals safely in their cages, it was time for the volunteers to load the four big boxes onto the back of landrover and one wicker basket into the truck with one in Jill's car. The convoy then headed for the seashore. When they arrived they discovered that the landrover could not take up all four boxes onto the dunes, so all the wicker boxes and heavy crates had to be carried by hand down to shore, which took some time.

With the 6 boxes finally lined up on the beach, Harry said it was time for the seals to go, so off they went, with just a few glances back. When they got to the edge of the sea they hovered, most looking back at the group of volunteers standing on the beach, with that last glance they swam off and soon were just small specks in the sea.
