Winterton Seal Hospital (Save Our Seals)

Nickie arrived on 20th March 2009

Nickie, a baby grey seal pup, was approximate aged 5 to 6 weeks old when rescued.
The pup was found at Sea-Palling by Mandy and Bob, members of the public, on 20th March 2009, Nickie still had much of her white baby coat on, she must have been born late as the grey seal pupping season should have finished by now. Weighing just 27 lbs, Nickie was found to be very ill with lung worm and heart/stomach worms and a high temperature of 38.9 degrees. One lung had an infection which was causing breathing problems. Now, after 10 days of medication, Nickie has survived and is eating fish well.

Mandy said that Nickie came out of the sea to say 'Help!' and laid down on the beach next to them and their two small terriers until Harry, our Seal Hospital Manager, arrived to rescue the pup.
