JAMIE
Jamie, a common seal pup, was seen in rough seas on 29 October 2003. Jamie was 6 – 7 weeks old when he was finally found partially buried in sand at Sea Palling (Norfolk) by visitors on the beach slipway watching huge waves hitting the cliffs. One of the visitors thought she had seen something in her torch beam and realised there was a small seal in trouble. She made an emergency call to the seal rescue team and with the help of 5 people with lights in the storm, Jamie was picked up quickly and taken to Winterton-on-Sea, 9 miles away. Jamie’s temperature was low and he was hardly breathing, completely exhausted, we put him under a heat lamp, and with medication, fish soup by tube, nursing by volunteers during the night, he soon improved and was eating fish within 7 days. Jamie is a very pretty seal although nervous of people. He has been vaccinated against PDV.
