Frosty, a rescued pup
SAVE OUR SEALS

FROSTY
Frosty only two or three weeks old was found smashed by gales on the Norfolk coast on Christmas Day, he was rescued by hospital staff in a very bad way.
Quickly put under a heat lamp and given warm milk and re-hydrating salts. Within hours as Frosty was recovering from the shock he was joined by Snowflake, another baby grey who was discovered just a few miles away and again in pretty much the same condition. Both seals when weighed were barely 21lbs each (only a quarter of the expected survival weight).
These two orphans came to Norfolk complete with a patch of pink on their fur. This tells us that they were both in or around the Farne Islands off Scotland's coast, as the survey team who work there use this method for identification of new pups. To have survived this journey as flotsom of roughly 280 miles is no mean feat at two weeks old, and to just sit on a lonely beach and die would be unthinkable with this instinct for survival.
These two little Christmas crackers are on 4 hourly milk feeds just like any other babies would be and are doing well.
