| DAWN Dawn, a premature common (Harbour) seal pup, was rescued on the 6th of May 2005 from the edge of the sea, North of Hemsby. She was only just alive when we picked her up after recieving a phone call from The Hemsby Lifeboat station. Some holiday makers had witnessed the traumatic birth of Dawn and because of their speed in contacting the Lifeboat station, we arrived soon after her birth. Her temperature was very low and the rescue team quickly wrapped Dawn in towels to keep her warm. Hemsby Lifeboat helped by supplying vehicles because of the danger of the incoming tide. |
| When Dawn arrived at the hospital, she was placed in an incubator to keep warm and dry out, her temparature slowly started to increase. Dawn's weight on arrival was 20lbs and she had to be fed a special type of milk by tube because she was so young. It was nearly three days before she opened her eyes and could focus on her new surroundings. | |
