Bongo, a rescued pup BONGO

Bongo, a grey seal pup, was rescued on 21st of December 2003. Bongo had been seen on the beach earlier in the week, but we had hoped that his mum would return. As the seal team was rescuing Storm, they checked on Bongo and found he had made his way up the slipway, but decided that Storm needed to be rescued first. Joyce, Sheryl, Wendy, Peter and his son Tarl returned to check on Bongo later that day, it was obvious that dogs had been attacking him, as there were bite marks to his back and flippers.
Whilst Peter and Sheryl were putting Bongo into the container, a couple of people above on the sand dunes, who had been watching Bongo, started shouting at us and telling the team to leave him alone and let nature take it course!! We still find it hard to believe that people would allow their dogs to attack seal pups and were amazed at the couple’s attitude towards the rescue team and the seal. Bongo being rescued
We loaded Bongo into our car and quickly brought him back to the rescue centre. He is now safe, in one of the new hospital pens.
