AMELIA
Amelia was found on 11th July 2000 by holidaymakers on Great Yarmouth beach. At first they thought she was a ragdoll lying on the waters edge. Realising that the "doll" was a seal they called the coastguard on 999 and our rescue team was quickly on the scene.
She was in a terrible state weighing only 22lbs and very distressed with ulcerated flippers and internal bleeding. It was touch and go for the first few weeks so our most experienced nurse, Wendy, took a personal interest and with round-the-clock care nursed her back towards health. Amelia is an unusual seal in that she has albino colouring; a beautiful golden coat and pink eyes.
She is still very small for her age and with a weak heart may be in our care for the foreseeable future. However, she is progressing and is now a happy little seal who catches her own fish and has a future thanks to Save Our Seals.
